Brigida “Bea” (Accetta) Favazza, loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home the morning of July 14. Born in Trapeto (Palermo) Sicily, to Salvatore and Lorenza (D’Orio) Accetta, on October 27, 1921. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Frank Accetta, her sister Rose Stipanov Mantua, and the love of her life Joseph, with whom she is now happily reunited. At the age of five Brigida and her parents sailed from Italy to the US and settled in St. Louis, MO. where she attended Fairview High School and secretarial school. At the age of 22 she and her family moved to San Pedro, CA. She was employed as a secretary at Ft. MacArthur until she married her sailor, Joe, in 1945, and after raising her children she enjoyed working at Rix Rack. Bea was known for her excellent cooking and was a talented seamstress. She loved traveling and tending to her garden. Above all she was kind, welcoming, and loved sharing her time with family and friends, always with that sweet smile of hers. Brigida is survived by her children, Peter (Vicky), Sarah, Mary Loren; her grandchildren Michael and Dustin (Shana) Favazza, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and her fur baby, “Luna.” Services will be held July 31, at Green Hills Memorial Park chapel, 11:30 am.
