Dr. Ivan Nenadic of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA passed away peacefully in his home after a long illness on January 10, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Dr. Nenadic was born in Croatia on July 4, 1940. A graduate of the University of Zagreb medical school, he immigrated to the United States and settled in the San Pedro area, where he remained in private practice as a family physician for nearly forty years. He was known for his gentle and caring manner, helping his patients well beyond the call of duty, especially those who were most vulnerable and without means. This made him a beloved and exceptionally trusted doctor in the San Pedro community and in the greater Los Angeles area. He was also a dedicated humanitarian. Pained by the atrocities unfolding in the 1990s in the genocidal wars against Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina, he led the first major private U.S. medical aid missions to the region, especially the most vulnerable communities in Bosnia-Herzegovina. He quietly continued these tireless efforts for years, seeking only to aid the victims and growing flood of refugees. His greatest joy, though, was being a proud father and grandfather to his treasured grandchildren. Dr. Nenadic is survived by his wife, Durdica, his four children, Natalie, Michael (Diana), Adriana (Peter), and Mariana (Will), and his grandchildren Cole, Hannah, Jaden, Ella, William, and Dominik. Viewing (10:00 am) and service (10:30) is at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 877 W. 7th Street, San Pedro, CA 90731 on Tuesday January 16, 2018. Burial is at Green Hills Memorial Park, 27501 S. Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 immediately following the service.
