Lucy passed away peacefully 8 days shy of her 101st birthday in her family home. She was born and raised by her parents Sam and Mary Gracin Bozanich, immigrants from the Croatian Island of Vis. She grew up steeped in the Croatian coastal culture of Bellingham Washington where her father had a fishing boat and mother worked in the cannery. Lucy moved with her family to San Pedro after high school and began her 35 year career with Pacific Bell Telephone, retiring when computers were introduced to the industry. Her faith was evident in her lifelong devotion to Our Blessed Mother and 82 year membership of Mary Star of the Sea Parish. Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Minnie Zamberlin and Pearl Mullan. Survivors include nieces Marilyn (Mullan) MacIsaac and Patti Ann (Mullan) Hurlbut, of Washington State, Annette (Zamberlin) Main of Texas, cousin Linko Gracin of San Pedro, six great and four great-great nieces and nephews. Many thanks to Sister Ena Maguire, S.I.C., for her generosity of spirit and fostering Lucy's continued spiritual path, her wonderful neighbors who brightened her days with their visits, to the Trinity Hospice team and the many years of in-home care providers who made it possible for Lucy to live as she wished. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Sisters of Joseph of Cluny, C/O Mary Star of the Sea Parish.Visitation will be on Thursday, September 21, 2017, 5-6 PM followed by a vigil service at 6:00 at McNerney's Mortuary Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be offered at Mary Star of the Sea Church on Friday, 10:30 am. The interment will be private.
