Ita Simon
(Simich Bizotova)

She graced the world from August 5, 1926 until January 10, 2012. She was the youngest of seven children born to Andro and Jerka Simich in Komiza, Otok Vis, Dalmatia, Yugoslavia. She left her homeland after World War II with her widowed mother in search of a new life in America. During the trip she met the love of her life, Ted Simon. They married in 1947, settled in San Pedro and raised 3 children: sons, Joseph and Andy; and daughter, Ruth. Ita loved taking care of her family and when grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer and Nicholas arrived on the scene, her happiness was complete. It was her vocation and delight to keep the home fires burning and she was masterful at it. She loved to sing and dance and laugh. She was happy-go-lucky. But she was a strong defender of her family and her values. Her strength was tested in her later years, as she had many health challenges that wore her down, but they never took away her smile or warmth of her personality. She was loved by anyone that knew her and her lovely spirit will be with us always. Ita is survived by her loving husband of nearly 65 years, Ted; her 3 children, Joseph (Martha), Ruth, and Andy (Liz); 3 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and their families. A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in San Pedro with interment to follow at Green Hills Memorial Park.
