Pete Fer passed away peacefully at his home on June 21, 2018 at the age of 78. He was born in San Pedro, California, the second son of Ernest Fer and Millie Fer (Barbieri). Pete attended San Pedro High School where he enjoyed playing football on the Marine League All City Football Championship for several years and ran hurdles on the track team. After graduating high school, he joined the Marine Corps, he was a devout patriot and loved his country. He met Margaret Theresa Jane Robinson in High School and fell in love. They married on July 1, 1962. He was a self-made man and founded his business, Pete Fer Plumbing in 1962. That business remains in operation by his children Peter and Jennifer in San Pedro, CA. Pete was also a successful breeder and owner of thoroughbred race horses. A true sportsman, Pete was passionate about animals and their wellbeing, he loved his horses and spent every Sunday morning with Pete JR at the race track. He was a devoted husband that loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends. He was passionate about his family, his plumbing business, his thoroughbred race horses and his country. The mountains, the pine trees, lakes and rivers, Pete loved to be surrounded by nature and enjoyed spending time with Pete Jr at his home in Genoa, Nevada. He is survived by his brother John Fer (retired Lieutenant Cornel US Airforce), his wife Nancy Fer (Blumetti); his children Steven J. Fer (Saba), Peter M. Fer, and Jennifer M. Phillips (Kent).
He took so much pride in his grandchildren Brittany Selvy (Tom), Travis Lidstrom (Korie), Katie Churchill (Austin), Mitchell Phillips (Kallie), Mackenzie Foley Phillips, Jonathan Fer, and Maggie Foley Phillips. Additionally, he loved and adored his great grandchildren Liam Lidstrom, Tommy Phillips, Reese Selvy and Conner Lidstrom. Pete was so dear to his loved ones and he will be missed immensely.
